Community Marketing Manager with over a decade of experience in producing shared online events, managing creative teams and bringing communities within the entertainment space together.

Community Building

My community managing experience started with ARK Survival Evolved. It was there that I was put in charge of maintaining and growing their Discord which grew to over 200,000.  I also was in charge of social profiles such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and the community forums. I also helped create a knowledge base for players to use when looking for support. Here I would also answer questions and concerns via our ticket system, Fresh Desk, where we could see up to 500 tickets a day.

During the launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy I worked with community relations and PR. During this time I was a part of the decision-making process on how to handle customer feedback, and what steps needed to be taken to put the games in a better light. I was the bridge between consumers and developers at Rockstar during a rather turmoil time.

Recently I have built the Risk of Rain: Hostile Worlds Discord from scratch and have gained over 15k members in just three months.

Community Events

My absolutely FAVORITE thing to do as a community manager is host community events! Whether it be month-long holiday events on social, hosting community trivia events on Discord, or streaming across multiple platforms, finding ways to connect and celebrate with the community is always a joy. These events are also a great way to bridge the gap between updates and keep the players engaged with your brand during the downtime so your game is always top of mind!

Customer Support

Customer support has been a large part of my job even prior to working on games. Making sure clients were taken care of and that their brand vision was being delivered currently.  However, I've had a great deal of experience working on Player support as well.

Whether using software systems like Zendesk or Freshdesk (you know, just give me all the desks), I have experience in creating knowledge databases for players, helping companies improve their already existing databases, and crafting appropriate messages to help players with all their needs. Anywhere from purchase issues, bugs, cheaters, and exploits, I've seen it all! I've also worked on games with a large influx of tickets, some even getting to around 500 a day.

Reporting & Scheduling

Part of my day-to-day is keeping team members and stakeholders informed of what is going on in the community and marketing side of things. I find creating weekly reports (or monthly if the game is smaller) is the best course of action to keep game devs informed. I have experience working with 10 different dev teams at a time, so creating a schedule for reporting is crucial to making sure these teams get the information they need. I use a few tools to help with this primarily Confluence, Jira, and ClickUp. Using Confluence allows me to create extensive weekly reports which highlight any issues, reports, and player sentiment that is happening. I also use Confluence to create guides to make other people's jobs easier. These guides are used as teaching tools for any new employees, or to help explain certain programs like Volunteer Moderators.

Jira and ClickUp I use to schedule and plan upcoming events, tag the appropriate teams, and create monthly schedules for teams to plan their workload. I like to plan marketing and community events 6 months in advance so everyone has enough time to get the projects done. I also use these software services to keep teams informed on the progress of each task and will upload assets that are helpful to the project for easier access. I also have experience using Jira as a bug tracker and working with QA on maintaining the database.

Esports & Content Creators

One thing I never thought I'd be working on is an Esports event in Germany inside a castle! How magical does that sound? While this is my first large-scale Esports event, it's by no means my first time working with competitive gamers, streamers, or content creators.

For ARK Survival Evolved we created a Partner Program for streamers on both YouTube and Twitch. Members of this program were able to get special perks and also work with us on creating community events to help maintain player retention.

Streaming

Streaming can be a great way to connect with the community and show them all of the cool things you have planned for the future of the franchise!

I personally have experience doing community streams where we get together and play with the community, but also high-level streams on Twitch where we showcase everything going on with the franchise. While both need different levels of execution, they are great tools to better connect and understand those who play your games.

Influencer Campaigns

Working with influencers is a great way to expand your community and get your game in front of more people! I've had the pleasure of working with influencers to help build hype around new game launches, DLCs, and events. I even had my hand in creating physical mailers and PR boxes.

Email

If there is one thing I love, it's a good email campaign. From the unique challenges that email design and coding present, to even just staying informed of industry developments, email marketing has a special place in my heart.

In my past experience working at a marketing agency, I would have up to 20 clients at a time which required monthly and sometimes weekly newsletters. I would train on how to use our CRM and email platform while focusing on best practices for deliverability.

Social Media

Social Media Marketing is where I got my start, so it holds a special place in my heart for sure. While working at a marketing agency I would be in charge of 15-20 clients' social campaigns at a time. Here I would drive social media strategy for product launches across Facebook and Google ads. From there I would Implement and review content KPIs to iterate and improve upon engagement/campaigns.

I would also create monthly content calendars for each client and I've utilized Sprout Social, Meltwater for social listening and, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, and Buffer for content scheduling.

A campaign I am proud of is working with ARK Survival Evolved during Extra Life and meeting our goal of $85,000!

Graphic Design

For the past 7 years, I have gone to school and taught myself graphic design. I have used these skills to promote companies/projects, create social media posts, enhance newsletters, design websites, event banners with table displays.

Also in my free time,  I do freelance graphic design work such as the work I provide for the podcast Now Playing.

Video

When I first moved out of my small town in FL to go to NYC at 17 I did it with the passion of wanting to get into film. Needless to say, that didn't really pan out, but since then I've been able to use my video editing skills to help make captivating commercials, and social media content. I also use video to bring the community closer to the developers by helping creating insightful update videos.

The tools I use for making videos are a mix of After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, and sometimes Illustrator when I need to perfect a design. I am also fluent in turning video clips into gifs for catchy social media posts and email campaigns.

Web Development

My web publishing and front-end web development experiences encompasses both WordPress and Shopify CMS. I not only have experience in designing websites from scratch but also focus on the best practices for SEO.

I have experience in maintaining blog posts for clients, along with creating graphics and product photographs to make a website pop.
